Fishing for Godot
A downloadable game for Windows
Fishing for Godot is a surreal fishing experience inspired by the themes of the stage play Waiting for Godot. In this contemplative journey, you cast your line into the unknown, not just in search of fish, but in search of meaning. Through your choices and reflections, the world around you shifts—shacks and debris may transform into a thriving community, or the landscape may fade into a range of muted tones.
Your perspective shapes everything. As you answer questions about life, the environment reacts, mirroring your mindset. A nostalgic glow may settle over the world, or a darker reality may take hold. Accompanied by a binaural audio soundscape that adapts to your choices, Fishing for Godot is designed to immerse you in a meditative, evolving atmosphere where your own thoughts dictate what you see, hear, and feel.
This is not a game with a set goal—the end comes when you choose. It is whatever you make of it, and whatever you take away from your own fishing experience.
Best enjoyed with headphones.
This game is dedicated to Sam's high school English teacher, Mr. John Howard.
In high school, Sam was a teaching assistant for Mr. Howard, and since there was often not a lot to grade, Sam spent most of his time playing video games on his laptop. Mr. Howard would often give Sam a hard time for it, so the one lesson Sam made sure to pay attention to was on Waiting for Godot. The story stuck with Sam, and we hope that this experience conveys our interpretation of what The Unlikely Collaborator's idea of a "Perception Box" is.
